[site one] VERTICAL PARK

Applied in an urban setting in the heart of the Mission District of San Francisco, the mobile home is taken out of its typical context. The basic frame and structure are still applied, but the community is arranged vertically as opposed to horizontally.

This setting responds to the housing needs of young couples or single professionals. At a place beyond the usual apartment, but not ready (because of either finacial or location issues) to own a home. A business can be run from the unit, or the beginnings of a small family can be started.

A mobile home applied in this setting allows the owner to have control of all four walls. Personal space included in the program allows for extra room to expand personal intersts into.

Each unit allows for varying levels of privacy, with the living room as the public gathering space, bedrooms and offices for private use, and personal space that allows for the occupant to build to their needs. This space can be encolsed, fenced, or completely open depending on the preference of the owner.
